Look what I found for sale recently while searching for Jaws images on-line: a re-creation of the Amity PD’s 1975 Chevy Blazer, used in the movie by Roy Scheider’s police chief character Martin Brody, and authentic right down to the bubble lights, the ‘Beach Closed’ signs, and the spare tire and first aid kit in the back.
According to the website’s description, it had ‘just completed a 2-year, photo documented, frame-off restoration and re-creation’, and was sold in 2012 for $24,200 by Barrett-Jackson, at one of their classic car auctions.
The selling price doesn’t seem like all that much, does it? Who knows, I might be tempted to buy one of these beauties if I ever find another for sale. Or maybe I’ll just take that 1971 Plymouth Barracuda from Phantasm instead.
SWEET!! Perfect for you – the Jaws-Mobile!

Hopefully not to be confused with the Gnome-Mobile…and I see you have a new avatar!

This is a really cool Blazer. What was your top bid on this, Todd?
I am not sure if you are aware of this bit of trivia, but here goes. My favorite rock group from Gilligan’s Island, The Mosquitos (don’t bug them!!) had their own vehicle. No, it wasn’t called The MosquitoMobile. It was called The ZikaMobile. Just in case you are ever on Jeopardy.

My top bid was $50…and I was outbid almost immediately. So I instead placed a bid on the pickup truck from Sanford & Son. And lost that one, too.
Just so you’re aware, MY favorite rock group from Gilligan’s Island is, without a doubt, The Honeybees. And thanks for making me look up the word ‘Zika’, which I’d never heard before. And more trivia: the episode you’re referring to was voted the #2 favorite by GI fans!
